Q: Do I need anything special to receive HDTV
?
A: You will need at least one HD receiver such as the Dish 811
and a high definition television set.
Q: Do I need anything special to use a DVR receiver ?
A: No, a standard television will work for playback of DVR
recordings.
Q: Why does DishNetwork require an access card?
A: The access card acts as a "pass key" for your
system, giving you access to the DishNetwork digital highway.
Q: What about Adult Programming?
A: DishNetwork currently offers five different types of adult
programming that can be added to your basic packages. The
packages available on a monthly subscription basis include:
Playboy (497), Hot Zone (493), EClips (494), TeN (495) and
Extasy (496).
Q: Can I get HDTV with any Dish Network System?
A: Yes, but you must have a television with a built in High
Definition decoder or you must purchase an external decoder
to attach to your television. To take advantage of high definition
television (HDTV) programming, you must have a receiver capable
of receiving HDTV signal.
Q: Can I switch from Direct TV to DishNetwork services?
A: Direct TV dish and cabling are compatible with the DishNetwork
service. However your dish will need to be realigned to a
different satellite location. Using your DirecTV dish will
prevent you from receiving some local stations and most of
the programming in the America's Top 150 package. This is
because it will not be looking at the secondary satellites.
Therefore, it is recommended upgrading to the DISH 500, which
allows you to receive a signal from both of the main DishNetwork
satellite locations with one dish. DishNetwork and Direct
TV receivers use different architecture, so unfortunately
their receivers are not compatible.
